2010 Writing Resolution: Get Published

I’m going to get published this year.

I’m not sure what I’m going to publish, or where, or how often, but it’s going to happen.  This is my 2010 Resolution.

Facing 2008, when my writing career was getting a jumpstart on this blog, I resolved to write with Barbara DeMarco-Barrett’s Pen On Fire: a busy woman’s guide to igniting the writer within.  Over the year, I followed the advice and writing prompts to generate several blog posts, and at the end of the year I was inspired to write a NaNoWriMo novel based on my family history.

It was a gut-wrenching, painful experience, and by the end of it all, I was tired of the drama.  I still wanted to write, but all I really wanted was to have some fun in 2009.

At the beginning of the year, I listed several books on writing that I intended to work through during the year.  Those good intentions didn’t hold up under the ceaseless onslaught of fun activities.  It was an incredible year, full of amazing adventures that will fuel my writing for many years, but there was little time to sit down and write.

Then, in November, I set aside the month to write about my Reading Across America Road Trip.  This time, I actually like what I wrote, and I think that there might be a market for this book.

However, I haven’t got a clue on how to get from writing a book to getting it published.

So, this year, I’m going to keep practicing the writing, but I’m also going to work on figuring out how to take this writing career to the next level using what I learn in:

I’m confident that I will get published in 2009.  Actually, I already have one article on its way, but I want to send more of my works into the stratosphere.
