After a week of museum visits, I was looking forward to a relaxed Sunday in New York City. A late brunch, a quiet walk through the Cloister’s autumnal gardens…just a typical city weekend.
That was the plan, until my husband’s buddy invited us to an Oompah Fest in Long Island. Dangle beer and sausage, and you can’t keep my husband away.
Instead of a serene outing, we ended up listening to German oompah music from the Yetis, drinking beer, sampling sausage, perusing the imported crafts, and joining in the celebration of New York’s Bavarian heritage.

My mom used to collect those steins during her trips to Germany. She would have loved to see that collection.
