		<description>I hear your comment. And, given the structure of schools, possibly in the US, I can see how creativity is being smooshed out. I only taught in one school in New York City, and most of my lessons were spelled out for me. Given that I was new to the system, I didn't deviate much from this.
In Canberra, Australia we have much more say in what we teach and our new "Quality Teaching Initiative" encourages teachers to give students more of a voice in working through their understanding; and realising there are many perspectives.
