set-up-10052.jpgJust two more weeks of public school! Yikes! Am I really going to home school next year?My name is Sandra and I have two kids, Kayla and Alex. My husband, David, puts up with (and sometimes agrees with) all my crazy ideas about how to raise and educate our kids. He wasn’t even surprised when I hit him with my latest brainstorm. I’m going off the grid to home school Alex!

Right now I’m exhausted from another busy year of volunteering at school, and I’m having a hard time motivating myself to organize for next year. In my mind, I’m fully committed to home schooling Alex next year, and he can’t wait to get started. I have read multiple books on home schooling, and I have a general idea about what material we are going to cover. A friend with many years of home schooling experience has given me lots of advice on how to get started. So, I think I have a good idea of what I’m getting into. To officially begin this journey, I just need to organize my paperwork and generate a letter of intent. This isn’t really a big deal since my friend gave me a copy of the letter that she used. So, what’s keeping me from sending this letter?

Exhaustion! I’m still wrapping up the end of project report on the book fair. I’m still organizing and leading end-of-year activities for my Girl Scout Troop. I’m still running around getting things ready for my daughter’s elementary school graduation celebrations, dance recital, etc., etc.

Ambivalence? Can I really handle home schooling Alex, and keeping on top of my other responsibilities? Am I taking on too much?

Procrastination! I can wait another day to send this letter.
